MyDataCheck:The toolbox has been approved by policymakers and researchers
One of the most anticipated moments of the pre-report presentation on electoral disinformation in Cameroon was the unveiling of the ToolBox, a digital solution designed to revolutionize the way society detects, analyzes, and counters false information.
Unlike previous fragmented approaches to the fight against disinformation, Gilles Keumeni, the IT expert says, MyDataCheck, the Toolbox introduces a holistic method that integrates technological innovation, data-driven insights, and community participation. An innovative solution praised by participants at the presentation ceremony of the preliminary report on pre-election trends in Cameroon on Monday, September 1, in Yaoundé.
Speaking during the official presentation of MydataCheck, ace researcher, Dieudonne Zra from the Advanced school of Mass Communication, expressed his satisfaction insisting that it is a continuous process “ it provides structured datasets and tracking mechanisms that enable a deeper understanding of how disinformation circulates and mutates across platforms. This means they can identify patterns, anticipate trends, and propose targeted responses backed by evidence rather than speculation” he noted. Dieudonne Zra added that “However, researchers like self should be on the constant search for new tools like such which will help ease our work” .
For Eko’o Aristide, an official from the PCRN party, MyDataCheck is both a mirror and a compass. “It is important tool that will help us expose manipulative tactics used in electoral campaigns, challenging us to prioritize credibility over propaganda” he said. For him, this solution went on to reveal that at the same time, it offers an opportunity to rebuild trust with citizens by demonstrating transparency and accountability in their communication strategies. “ I am going home very satisfied from the event and it will go further to request that pre-report be published before the D-Day” he concluded.
